The Client came to Fairwinds with a new seafloor-suspended well located
in the West Cameron area of the Gulf of Mexico in 290 feet of water.
Production development options initially investigated by Fairwinds
included a complete, newly-designed structure with process facilities
& a minimal Caisson structure with production tied-back to existing
production facilities.

In the interest of an expedited construction schedule, Fairwinds assisted the Client in a search for an existing structure that could be modified for use at this location. A previously used tripod structure was located at a yard in Louisiana that had originally been installed in 320 feet of water. This structure fortunately also had a full complement of process equipment already installed & Fairwinds was able to verify the facilities suitability for the Client's new application.

Fairwinds first had to determine if the existing structure could be modified to accommodate the shallower water depth and still meet current structural and environmental codes. Through extensive SACS computer modeling, Fairwinds was able to re-certify the modified structure to meet all current design criteria for use in this new location. Additionally, Fairwinds prepared permit application packages for the structure, production facilities and associated pipeline. Fairwinds then managed the refurbishment of the structure; designed process modifications & additions; & managed the installation of the jacket, deck, process equipment & pipeline.
In implementing Fairwinds' project concept, process equipment was inspected and reconditioned and metering facilities, produced water treating and a pigging system were designed and added. A new Helideck was designed and fabricated to replace the original that had long since been removed and an 8", 12,600' multi-phase pipeline was designed and installed to deliver production from the new facility to a nearby pipeline tie-in. Fairwinds managed all phases of the project from initial concept, to start-up, and to first production.

Results: Fairwinds put together a solution for the Client that saved them time and money. The resulting facility not only met all of their current needs, but also provides for future expansion with provisions for quarters, compressors, generators, etc.
